Immediately.
Do I have to sign a long term contract?
No, you have the option to be month to month or sign up for a 12 month contract to receive a discount. You may cancel at any time.
I only go out a few times a month, and rarely do I drink too much to drive. Is becoming a member really worth it?
Absolutely! It only takes one incident to drastically change your life. Think of a membership as an insurance for DWI. For $1 a day, you are covered if you ever had too much to drink. When you sign up for health insurance, do you hope you become sick so that you may use your health insurance? No you don't. You have it just in case you need it.
If I cancel my membership and restart it again later, do I have to pay the sign-up fee again?
Yes.
Do I have to pay the sign-up fee each year?
No, it's a one-time fee.
How do I pay my monthly membership?
Your membership dues will automatically be withdrawn from your credit card or checking account.
Can I pay with a check or with cash?
Yes, but only if you sign up with a 12 month membership.
Do I have to be 21 years old to become a member?
No, although we do not encourage underage drinking, the minimum age to become a member is 18.
Can I use your service if I'm not a member?
Yes, however we do charge a $50 pick-up fee and a $1 per mile fee for non members. Additionally, there is a required $20 tip. Fees and tips MUST be paid in cash or credit card at the time of pick up, prior to leaving any said establishment.
Once I call to be picked up. How long does it take for my drivers to arrive to my location?
Our response time is typically 15-25 minutes.
Can Designated Drivers on Demand use its own company vehicle to give me a ride home?
No. We are not a taxi service. You must have your own vehicle.
What is an appropriate tip?
The appropriate tip depends on the city a member resides in. Please click on the tab "Cities We Serve" to see the minimum tip for each city we serve.
Do I have to have auto insurance for my vehicle?
Yes, you are required to have what the laws require.
Sometimes my vehicle may be at my mechanic's shop. As a member, can I use your service if I'm in a borrowed vehicle?
Yes, just as long as the vehicle is insured according to state law.
Do I have to pay each time I call for a Designated Driver?
No, your low monthly membership is all you pay each month, regardless of how many times you use our service. You only have to tip your driver.
Do you charge a per mile fee like taxis?
No, your monthly membership takes care of this charge regardless of how many times you use our service. You only have to tip your driver.
Can DDoD take my friend home too?
Yes, but each friend must also tip the driver a minimum $20.
If I update my membership from one plan to another, do I have to pay another sign up fee?
No.
Can my Designated Driver take me to a place other than my house?
Yes, the drivers work on tips and would gladly drive you to a destination of your choice.
